Annual Damon S. Young Memorial
Scholarship Sporting Clays Shoot
The Wyoming County Conservation
District holds many events throughout the year. These events range from
fundraisers to awards banquets, which honor those members of the community who dedicate
their time to support conservation efforts. One of the most meaningful events is
the new Damon S. Young Memorial Scholarship Sporting Clays Shoot.
Damon was a 2001 graduate of
Tunkhannock Area High School and a 2006 graduate of Penn State. Damon worked at
the Conservation District as an intern in the summer of 2005. He had planned to
join our team again in the summer of 2006 but sadly his condition worsened and
he passed away on September 18th 2006 of kidney cancer. Damon was
very athletic and had a passion for the outdoors. The scholarship created in his
memory, benefits a deserving, local high school student on his or her way to
college.

The District held its first annual
Damon S. Young Memorial Scholarship Fundraising Sporting Clays Shoot in 2008.
The 3rd Annual event will take place on September 18, 2010 at
Rock Mountain
Sporting Clays. There will be lunch and games available for shooters
and non-shooters. You do not need to shoot to attend this event; just
complete a registration form and submit it to the Wyoming County Conservation
District. Anyone interested in attending this event can view the sponsorship
forms and registration forms at the following links.
